KEALAKEKUA, HAWAII - Years ago I went hiking down to the Captain Cook monument with friends after planning to do it for a few weeks, after I had heard it was kind of challenging. I wanted to gear up and be prepared for a fun adventure. Compass and camera in hand, we set out on a new adventure.
The hike down the un-maintained trail to monument took about about 1.5 hours and is considered a moderately difficult hike, with lots of large ankle-twisting rocks on the trail, elevation changes and lack of nearby shade & resources. Imagine living out here in the ancient days and relying on underground water aquifers, having to catch your own food, and surviving against not only the elements but also invading bands of warriors. Pretty awesome stuff!
After enjoying the fruits of a few wild fruit trees, we arrived at our destination. I could easily understand why this area was at one time heavily inhabited and there existed a village nearby. We saw a school of Yellow Tang swimming around Cook's death marker, which was under about two inches of water at the time. In case you didn't realize, Captain James Cook was killed on this day, February 14, 1779, in Kealakekua Bay on the west coast of the Big Island. The story involves many details that I won't get in to here, but basically he had taken advantage of their kindness, and karma came back to get him. That's how it works especially on the Big Island, with all the vortex energy. Kealakekua translates to "pathway of the gods," and for Captain Cook, this was an untimely realization.
Nowadays, all you encounter when you're down there are loads of tourists and historical dinner cruises trying to get close enough to snap a photo of the monument. #captaincookmonument

Being a paranormal investigator has its perks. I must say, I lead an interesting and exciting life. Thanks for tuning in and being a part of it all!
Last month, I was invited to attend the History Channel's advanced screening in Seattle of their upcoming show, Project Blue Book (Premiering Jan 8, 2019 at 10PM PT/ET).
Once the producers were aware of my previous research, I was asked to be a speaker on the after-show expert panel alongside Maurene Morgan, Michael W. Hall and one other gentleman whom I can't recall his name.
Without giving anything away, I must say the first episode was absolutely amazing! Between the all-star cast, the exciting subject matter and the History-level production value, the show is guaranteed to be a big hit! Less than a month before showtime...
Here's a bit more info about the show:
HISTORY’s upcoming new drama series ‘Project Blue Book’ is based on the true, top-secret investigations into Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) and related phenomena conducted by the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1969.
Dr. J. Allen Hynek (Aidan Gillen), a brilliant yet underappreciated college professor, is recruited by the U.S. Air Force to spearhead a clandestine operation called Project Blue Book. Along with his partner, the debonair Air Force Captain Michael Quinn (Michael Malarkey), he is summoned to investigate UFO sightings around the country and use science to discover what really happened. However, when some encounters cannot be explained away and cases remain open, Hynek begins to suspect that he has been duped by the government into a larger conspiracy to cover up the truth. Set against the backdrop of the Cold War and rising Atomic Era, each episode will draw from the actual Project Blue Book case files, blending UFO theories with authentic historical events from one of the most mysterious eras in United States history.
The show premiers on HISTORY January 8th, 2019 at 10PM PT/ET. Be sure to tune in!

Great news....I was asked to be a guest speaker at Kona Stories along with two other local authors on September 1st (Tuesday) for their monthly "Words & Wine" author event, talking about my best selling guidebook, the Hawaii Vortex Field Guide and how I came to be an author/researcher here in Hawaii. For me, life began when I moved to Hawaii...and I can't wait to talk about all the synchronicities that led up to this moment. Read more about the Hawaii Vortex Field Guide book here.
Event is free and lasts from 6pm-9pm, includes wine and snacks.

Hope to see you there!
Na Leo o Hawaii means "the Voice of Hawaii" - and Na Leo o Hawaii Community Television is a non-profit program that is open to anyone who lives on the Big Island. They have a video production class once a month that teaches you how to make videos, and once you complete two public service announcement videos for them, you're a certified producer and are able to borrow camera equipment for free as long as you submit at least one 15 minute video every three months. The class costs $100 and the first course is offered for free to see if you like it.
I'm hoping to help our community speak out about anything & everything and I have up to two hours on Cable Channel 53 (Oceanic Time Warner) to play with. I'm looking for interesting show ideas and/or people to help highlight the many things happening around our island. I'm also looking for a small production crew (extra camera-person, editor, etc.) to work with. Message me if you would like to be a part of the new team.
I have my list of production ideas that I've been working on...but if you have one that you feel I can help with, please email or text me or leave a comment here on this post and I'll get back to you shortly. Aloha!
